Television survivalist and adventurer Bear Grylls caused a stir in London Wednesday when he performed a stunt that features flames being projected onto a building. The flames looked so real that firefighters were called to the scene. It was all just a promotional event for his new Discovery Networks International series.
The stunt featured Grylls climbing down the Battersea Power Station, which had flames and damage projected onto it. There were also pyrotechnics that went off to make it look even more realistic. But it was too realistic for some and The Mirror reports that there were several calls to the fire department.
“We were called at 7.50pm. We attended and as soon as we got there we realised it wasn't an incident for us,” a fire department spokesperson told the Mirror. “We take every call seriously.”
According to Deadline, the event was to promote Escape From Hell, a new series that will debut on Oct. 7 in the U.K. The series has been picked up by Discovery networks in 244 markets.
Back in February, Grylls rekindled his relationship with Discovery for another international series called Ultimate Survivor. Discovery cut ties with Grylls back in March 2012 when it cancelled his incredibly popular series Man vs. Wild. However, the network wasted no time bringing him back into the fold.
