Jay Z and Beyonce Knowles can add one more achievement to their already impressive entertainment careers: highest-earning celebrity couple. Between June 2012 and June 2013 the two grossed a combined total of $95 million, surpassing the earnings of Kanye West and Kim Kim Kardashian as well as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
According to Forbes, Watch the Throne, Jay Z’s latest album went platinum and spawned a tour that raked in $1.4 million every night. Beyonce’s Mrs. Carter world tour is even more impressive, earning $2 million nightly.
Jay Z is a part owner of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the home of the Brooklyn Nets, but reportedly is selling his stake for $1.5 million, according to the Huffington Post. The rapper also owns Roc Nation Sport, a sports agency that represents athletes like Kevin Durant and Victor Cruz. Beyonce also has non-musical projects, including a fragrance and clothing line named House of Deréon.
Not only are Jay Z and Beyonce the top couple, but they out-earned all other celebrity couples by a large margin. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen sit at number two on Forbe’s list, but are $15 million behind the first couple of hip-hop.
The expression keeping up with the Joneses should be changed to keeping up with the Carters.
