A gang member was charged Wednesday for the murder of a 6-year-old girl who was fatally shot at a family gathering earlier this month in Moreno Valley, California.

Tiana Ricks and her father, 26-year-old Tyrell Ricks, were standing in an open garage at a family celebration on Sept. 7 when two men walked up to the crowd and started shooting. Tyrell was shot in the pelvis and is still recovering from injuries, but Tiana died from the shooting later at the hospital.

Gang member Keandre Johnson, 21, was arrested Tuesday after he was identified as the shooter and an arrest warrant was issued that same day. Johnson has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and participation in a criminal street gang.

According to NBC, authorities do not yet know the motive of the shooting because Tyrell Ricks claims he has no gang ties and does not know anyone in the area besides his family. He just recently moved to the area.

Tiana’s family is trying to deal with the horrible tragedy.

"You have tore up our family. You have hurt us deeply. We have to walk around with this the rest of our lives," said Tiana's aunt Carolyn Cook, ABC reports.

Rappers Snoop Dogg and The Game have both given generous donations to Tiana’s family after hearing about her tragic death.
