George Clooney is opening up about playing Batman in 1997’s Batman & Robin, calling himself “terrible” in the part. During an interview with Empire magazine, the Oscar winner was asked to give advice to Ben Affleck, who will soon be taking on the same role in the Man of Steel sequel.

Clooney said, “I am the least qualified person to comment on anyone playing the role of Batman since I so terribly destroyed the part.”

He went on to give praise to the Argo star, saying "I tend to look at it like this -- let's just see what the movie is before everyone starts beating him up. He is a smart man, he knows what he is doing."

Affleck himself sort of echoed those same sentiments when commenting on the backlash he’s received for taking the part. He told Jimmy Fallon about the criticism, "You can't say that before a movie comes out. It doesn't matter what you think then, it matters what you think when you see the movie."
