No charges were filed against George Zimmerman after an alleged altercation he had involving his estranged wife and his father-in-law.
CNN reports that Police Chief Steve Bracknell confirmed that estranged wife Shellie Zimmerman decided not to pursue charges after police responded to an incident on Monday afternoon. She had called 911 frantically and said that George Zimmerman had threatened her and her father. George Zimmerman was detained and interviewed by police but not arrested.
There has been confusion over whether or not George Zimmerman was armed during the alleged incident. Police told the press that there was no gun involved, but George Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, said that he believed his client was indeed armed. O'Mara said that Zimmerman never took out his weapon during the event.
Allegedly, the incident occurred when Shellie Zimmerman, who filed for divorce last week, tried to recover some of her belongings. She was accompanied by her dad, and George Zimmerman got into a confrontation with her dad. During the event, George Zimmerman smashed his wife's iPad.
FOX News reports that Shellie Zimmerman, 26, sobbed to a 911 dispatcher and said she believed George Zimmerman might begin shooting at her and her dad. During the call, Shellie Zimmerman said, "He's threatening all of us with a firearm...He punched my dad in the nose. I don't know what he's capable of. I'm really scared.
