George Zimmerman might have been relieved that he was acquitted of murder charges in the death of Trayvon Martin, but his personal life isn’t anything to celebrate, as his wife just filed for divorce.
As we previously reported, Shellie Zimmerman noted in divorce papers they “separated on Aug. 13, 2013 and are not presently cohabiting as husband and wife. The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
The couple married in 2007, and 26-year-old Shellie says pressure from the court proceedings was too much for their marriage.
Shellie gave an interview to ABC’s Good Morning America after filing the divorce petition, stating “I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George.”
She also said he feels “invincible” after being found not guilty for murder.
“I stood by my husband through everything, and I kind of feel like he left me with a bunch of broken glass that I'm supposed to now assemble and make a life," she said, adding, "It's just heartbreaking."
