Gillian Anderson is set to perform in the London stage production of A Streetcar Named Desire.

The X-Files star will play Blanche DuBois in the production, The Guardian reports.

The Young Vic theatre group is planning on the production starting in summer 2014. Benedict Andrews will be the director. Andrews most recently directed the Three Sisters in 2012 at The Young Vic.

Streetcar has done well on the London stage, with Rachel Weisz winning an Olivier for portraying DuBois and beating out Anderson who was in A Doll's House at the time.

According to BBC News, Streetcar is about Blanche Dubois' brother-in-law Stanley Kowalski torment his weaker relative until she suffers a breakdown.

The 2014 season is brimming with brilliant productions, including Samuel Beckett's Happy Days and Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard.

Juliet Stevenson has been cast as Winnie in Happy Days, which is a one-woman play. Artistic Director said, "Winnie is one of the greatest and most demanding stage roles ever written."

Gillian recently guest-starred in NBC's Hannibal and starred in BBC2's The Fall.
