Park officials are investigating the fatal shooting of a young girl at Yellowstone National Park.

The shooting, which happened, Saturday, is reported to have occurred when a woman’s young daughter shot herself with a handgun while they were staying at one of the park’s campgrounds.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and attempted to resuscitate the girl but were unsuccessful.

Park spokesman Al Nash said in a statement that they would not be releasing the names of the girl or her mother until their extended family could be notified of the girl’s death. They have also not released the girl’s age.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear. “We don’t have all of the information, and we haven’t drawn any conclusions,” Nash said, in a report by TIME.

The investigation is ongoing and the campground where the shooting occurred has been cordoned off as they try to piece together Saturday’s events.

Park officials said that this was the first fatal shooting at the park since 1978.
