A Google Street View car collecting photos in Bogor, Indonesia reportedly crashed into three separate vehicles.
According to The Next Web, the driver first hit a minivan. After accompanying the minivan driver to a repair shop where damages were estimated to cost about 200,000 rupiah (or $17.50), the Google driver fled. Not two miles later, the Google driver ran into a second minivan. He continued to try to flee once more, but finally stopped after crashing into a third vehicle.
Vishnu Mahmud, head of communications for Google in Indonesia, replied to the incident, “We take incidents like this very seriously. We’re working closely with local authorities to address the situation.”
BBC News sited another episode with Google cars when one of their Street View cars was accused of running over a donkey. Images posted by Google Street Views showed the animal walking in one shot, and in the next shot, on the ground.
Kei Kawai, Google’s Group Product Manager, attributed the incident to poor 360-degree imaging, “The donkey was lying in the path-perhaps enjoying a dust bath- before moving safely aside as our car drove past. I’m pleased to confirm the donkey is alive and well.”
