A 39-year-old man was rescued Sunday after being stranded overnight in a canyon in Spanish Fork, Utah.
According to Fox police received a call around 8:30 a.m. Sunday when hikers heard a man yelling from the Spanish Oaks Reservoir.
Officials say the man became stuck sometime Saturday night because he was intoxicated and admitted to using heroin while in the canyon. They are still investigating the situation.
According to KSL, the man was stuck about 200 feet above the trial and it took a team of 30 people to get him back on the trail and off the mountain.
At about 11 a.m. Sunday the crew transported the man to Mountain View Hospital. He did not suffer from any very serious injuries but did have hypothermia, dehydration, and minor injuries to his head and leg.
“He was a little dehydrated and also a little hypothermic. Had he been out there for a much longer period of time, he definitely could have had some real trouble," said Sgt. Eldon Packer, "Lesson learned, be prepared for the elements because you never know when you may have to spend the night."
