The House of Representatives passed a spending bill on Friday that cut funding for the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.

According to CBS News, the bill passed with 228 Republicans and two Democrats voting for its passage and 188 Democrats and one Republican voting against it. House Speaker John Boehner called the decision a “victory,” calling Obamacare a “trainwreck.”

Obamacare is a piece of legislation that aims to make healthcare more available and more affordable, and the House’s decision is expected to be overturned by the Senate next week, The Wall Street Journal reports. Democrats in the Senate are planning to strip those provisions from the bill which pertain to defunding Obamacare, and Republican senators have vowed to work to keep these measures in the bill.

Speaking on this particular matter, President Barack Obama stated that Congress did not care about the middle class. He said, “They're not focused on you. They're focused on politics […] They're focused on trying to mess with me. They're not focused on you.”
