Tropical storm Humberto has gained speed and been upgraded to a category one hurricane, which has made it the first official hurricane of the season.

On Wednesday, Humberto’s wind speeds were clocked in at around 75 mph by the National Hurricane Center in Miami, a speed which just barely categorizes it as a hurricane, according to The Guardian. Category one hurricanes can range anywhere from 74 to 95 mph.

Humberto, which is reportedly centered about 395 miles northwest of the Cape Verde Islands, is not likely to stay a hurricane for long and will not do much damage. Starting as early as Thursday, Humberto is expected to weaken into a tropical storm once again.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center expected more hurricanes than usual during this hurricane season, according to a report by CNN. A growth in number of hurricanes was supposed to be caused by higher-than-average water temperatures as of this past May, but the Atlantic hasn’t exactly been counting the hurricanes this season.

As many as 20 named storms were expected this year and up to 11 of them were predicted to be hurricanes. Humberto is the only hurricane of the year so far, and one of only eight storms that have been given names.
