The Toronto International Film Festival kicks off today and while the films that are being screened get all the notice, there’s another side of the event: selling future projects. Jason Reitman, whose Labor Day is being screened at TIFF, is reportedly already set to go with his next project, Men, Women & Children.
According to sources for The Hollywood Reporter, the Up In The Air director has already written the screenplay, which is based on Chad Kultgen’s novel. It focuses on the sexual frustrations of junior high school students and their parents in today’s high-tech age.
TheWrap notes that Reitman is looking to put together another cast of a-listers, starting with Adam Sandler and Cameron Diaz. He’s also looking at Jennifer Garner and Rosemarie DeWitt for roles.
While the film is in its early stages at this point, Reitman is looking to start shooting in November. Indian Paintbrush will produce and finance with Reitman’s Right of Way Films.
Labor Day will be screened on Sunday. It premiered in Telluride and stars Kate Winslet, Tobey Maguire and Josh Brolin. It’s not currently scheduled for wide release until January.
Reitman’s credits include Juno, Up In The Air and Young Adult.
