Fashion designer Jason Wu, best known for designing looks for Michelle Obama for two inaugural balls, debuted his lingerie-inspired Spring 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week on Friday.

Going in a bit of a different direction than the norm, Wu opted for light, pastel colors and flowy, sheer fabrics, giving both a sexy and relaxed look and steering away from the often bold blues, and reds that are more typical of Wu's pieces, remarks Senatus.

"I've been loosening up in the last couple of seasons ... just taking the idea of the body in a very different way," Wu told AFP after the show, reports Global Post. Some of Wu's pieces included lace-up corsets paired with military jackets and trench coats, as well as more relaxed looks with slouchy sweaters paired with skirts.

Recently being appointed to the title of creative director for Hugo Boss women's wear, it seems that Wu's success has only climbed higher since designing the beautiful draped, one-shoulder chiffon gown and shimmering, bold red gown for Michelle Obama these past two inaugurations. Keep an eye out for Wu's collection come Spring 2014.
