John Newman once had plans to become a mechanic. But boy…aren’t we glad he didn’t! When asked in an interview for digitalspy.com if music was all he ever wanted to do, the British soul sensation answered:
"Nah, I wanted to be a mechanic. But I spent the first half of my mechanics course being creative and drawing cars and by the second half of the year, I decided to do music. I was writing lyrics and thinking of song ideas... The technical working of a carburettor doesn't really have a place in my head anymore!"
This change in career path might have been one of the best decisions Newman has ever made in his life. If he hadn’t have decided to put the wrench down and pick up the microphone, then his breakthrough collaboration with Rudimental would never happen. Rudimental’s incredibly successful song “Feel The Love” featuring Newman, has given him an exposure and has launched his career in a right direction.
His debut single “Love Me Again,” has reached number one on UK Singles Chart when it came out. It is a fun, catchy, upbeat track about trying to get your lover to love you again as they used to. Newman has said in an interview for swide.com, that the song was actually inspired by the true event. “The lyrics are about how I was a massive dickhead to my ex-girlfriend and felt awful about the whole thing.”
John Newman is a star on the rise. His music soundwise, is like a retro dance party consisted of an amazing rhythm that will get you on your feet and accompanied by pop/soul qualities of his voice. His debut album Tribute will be released on October 14th. Judging by what we had an opportunity to listen to so far, this album is the one to look forward to.
