After asking fans if they were ready for a new single, Justin Timberlake has posted his latest track, “TKO.” Timberlake has posted the track on YouTube after teasing fans on Twitter.
Timberlake began his Thursday by asking fans if he should release a new single and, of course, the answer was yes. So, he began to tease fans on Twitter, first revealing the new track’s title and then posting the single art on Instagram. Eventually, he posted it on YouTube and the track is also available to download on iTunes.
“TKO” sounds similar to Timberlake’s other work with producer Timbaland on The 20/20 Experience, which is no surprise. After all, his new album is the second half of that release. The 20/20 Experience - Part 2 is expected to hit stores on Sept. 30.
The new song will be the fourth track on the new album, which will also feature the single “Take Back The Night.”
“I just felt like so much of it went together,” Timberlake explained to Ryan Seacrest this week. “I wanted to release a double album, but then after speaking to my label, we thought it would an interesting idea to see what it would be like to split up a double album and release it over the course of a year … I probably had four or five different versions of how to put this music out.”
When explaining how he chose which songs would end up on the first set, he said, “The songs that I released in March just reminded me of summertime a little bit more and the songs that are coming out this month felt a little darker so they made me feel like … the fall/winter collection.”
Here’s “TKO”:
