Katy Perry's latest single "Roar" has landed her atop the music charts.

According to MTV UK, the single became her fourth UK no. 1 on top of the Official UK Singles Chart.

The single has sold 179,500 copies has become the third-fastest selling single so far of 2013. The song is only behind Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Avicii's "Wake Me Up."

Perry told BBC Radio 1, "I feel like the UK is so ahead of the zeitgeist," reports BBC News. "They are the zeitgeist," she added.

The single displaced Ellie Goulding's "Burn," which only dropped to second place.

"Roar" also usurped Robin Thicke's 12-week dominance in the U.S. charts. The single became her eighth U.S. number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Perry released the music video for "Roar" this past Thursday. The video shows her survive a plane crash into the jungle.

"Roar" is from the singer's upcoming album Prism, which is due for release Oct. 22, 2013.
