Lionsgate and OddLot Entertainment have agreed to a multi-year co-financing and distribution deal that will start with the in-development Johnny Depp film Mordecai.
The two studios already have a relationship, as they worked together on Ender’s Game, which is scheduled for Nov. 1, and next year’s Draft Day. According to THR, the deal will cover future films and gives Gigi Pritzker's OddLot distribution rights on some projects.
“Our partnership on Ender’s Game and Draft Day has now been extended to include Mortdecai, and we look forward to finding many more pictures to partner on in the future,” Lionsgate co-chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger said in a statement, notes TheWrap. “OddLot is a reliable, accomplished, respected company, and is an important financial partner, and they will provide us with a valuable and consistent supply of future films for our portfolio.”
Pritzker added that Lionsgate “shares our entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to commercially exciting, star-driven films with global appeal.”
Mordecai is a film Depp boarded in July and will be directed by David Koepp. It co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow and ewan McGregor.
Among OddLot’s future releases is Rosewater, the film Jon Stewart made during his Daily Show summer hiatus.
