A Texas man shot and killed his wife outside of the high school that she worked at before returning home and killing himself.
54-year-old Gregory Robinson waited for his wife, 46-year-old Valerie Robinson, outside of Tompkins High School in Katy. When she arrived for work at around 6 a.m., he approached her in the parking lot and shot her in the back, according to local station KHOU.
Gregory Robsinson then got back into his truck and drove off.
Two school coaches attempted to perform CPR on Valerie Robinson, who worked in the cafeteria at the school, until paramedics arrived at the scene. The Houston Chronicle reported that she was later pronounced dead at Katy Memorial Hermann Hospital.
It did not take authorities long to track her husband back to their home in Brookshire, which is about 10 minutes away from the school. After waiting for several hours outside the residence, a SWAT team entered the house, only to re-emerge moments later with news that they had found a man dead inside.
They reported that it appeared that Gregory Robinson had shot himself in the head.
Family members were shaken when they heard the news of what had happened.
"I'm still in shock," Valerie Robinson’s sister Audrey Ephram told NBC 13. "I don't know what could have driven him to do that."
She also said that the Robsinsons had been married for nearly 30 years. Family members said that the couple had a strained and abusive relationship, and that Valerie Robsinson frequently left her husband, only to return to try and work things out.
