Marvel Entertainment’s first TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. starts next week and it may only be the start of more TV projects from the Disney-based studio. A project starring Captain America character Agent Carter is reportedly in the works.

Agent Carter would be focused on the events following Captain America: The First Avenger and the character’s new career as a secret agent while Cap is still frozen in ice. The character was played by Hayley Atwell in the film, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, there are no deals signed yet so it’s not confirmed if she’ll be back for the role. The news was also reported by Deadline.

Atwell will not be seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Instead, the romantic lead will be played by Emily VanCamp.

The Agent Carter series would be an extension of a short on the Iron-Man 3 Blu-ray, which comes out on Tuesday. (S.H.I.E.L.D. is also an extension of a short released on home video. The Avengers Blu-ray featured the short Item 47.)

There isn’t a network attached to the project, but ABC is the likely home, since it is owned by Disney as well.

S.H.I.E.L.D. starts Tuesday and is on our list of new Fall shows to check out.
