Although a sequel to the unexpected hit Chronicle directed by Max Landis, isn't in the works anymore Landis still has his sights set on superheroes. Although this time it's one that Warner Bros. has been trying to get off the ground for quite some time, Wonder Woman. Joss Whedon had a chance, but could make the story work, ABC almost created a TV show but couldn't get it past the pilot stage. Landis believes that he can create this iconic super hero and finally bring her to the big screen.
Max Landis loves his super heroes and from seeing Chronicle he's good at making films about them too. On Reddit Landis explained that the super hero he'd like to write about is, "Either a version of Green Lantern that played like ET meets Stand By Me using the goth/punk seen and Kyle Raynor, or Wonder-Woman, using a pitch that I intend to make to WB." Landis clearly has a vision, but will Warner Bros. be able to finally get it off the ground?
Landis' comments suggest that a Wonder Woman movie may be closer than some may think. According to Slash Film Warner Bros. keeps trying to get something started but as of last year, writer Michael Goldenberg was working on a Wonder Woman script, but nothing has come to be of it. On the television side, there’s a Wonder Woman show still stuck in development hell over at the CW. If Landis can lock a script down and give the pitch of a life-time, expect to see Wonder Woman on the big screen in the next few years.
