McDonald's introduced new family-size food options to the United States, testing the waters in Kansas City, Missouri first.

According to Burger Business, the corporation is kicking off NFL season with an idea called the Blitz Box. The Blitz Box includes two Quarter Pounders with Cheese, two medium fries and a 20-piece box of Chicken McNuggets. The boxed dinner-for-two will cost $14.99.

Previously, there has not been much market for bundled burgers, since they risk the possibility of the food getting cold and losing their delicious taste. However, McDonald's has decided to take the risk. The Huffington Post reports that CEO Don Thompson said, "There's a trend in eating now to bundling. It used to be you'd see teens eating meals separately. Now you'll see them getting two or three fries and burgers for four or five and putting it all in the center to share."

These boxes have been available in other countries such as Australia and the Czech Republic, and now they are coming to the United States.

Right now, the Blitz Box is promoted with the Kansas City Chiefs, but if all goes well in Kansas City, McDonald's could introduce the Blitz Box in other locations, perhaps nationally. McDonald's is trying to compete with other fast food restaurants lately, and they are also currently testing a new Dollar Menu & More, featuring foods listed at $1, $2 and $5.
