After car accident last Saturday, Johnathan Ferrell, 24, was only looking for help when he knocked on a random door.
The un identified caller called the police, and mistook Ferrell for a burglar. However, when Ferrell ran at the cops to alert them he needed help, he was greeted with 12 bullets shot by Officer Randal Kerrick;two of them missing.
Georgia Ferrell, mother of the victim, stated that she does forgive Kerrick, but she wants justice as well.
Kerrick is charged with voluntary manslaughter and if convicted will receive 17 years in prison.
Micheal Greene, his attorney, believes he’s not guilty.
According to NYDailyNews.com Green believes that “It will be found that Officer Kerrick’s actions were justified on the night in question.”
However, the family attorney of the Ferrell’s, Chris Chesnut, has witnessed 20 seconds of video from the police dash cam.
According to Chesnut, there were three different times of shots. And then according to Chesnut, “By the time they stop shooting, then they start saying, ‘Get on the ground, get on the ground, he had already been shot.”
According to CBSNews.com, Georgia Ferrell, “I don’t want to bury my son, my son should be burying me.”
Jonathan Ferrell was a Florida A&M student and had no criminal record.
