New York City is the fashion capital of the world. This phrase has been heard numerous times. Twice a year a very special event occurs: an event called Fashion Week. New York Fashion is one of the most anticipated events of the fall and spring. The fall 2013 fashion week features designers' collection for the upcoming season. This fall, we get to see what the latest trends are for Spring 2014. I was fortunate enough to attend the BCBG Max Azria Spring 2014 Runaway Show at Lincoln Center.
The brand is a celebrity favorite. Heidi Klum, Giuliana Rancic, George Kotsiopoulos, and Jamie Chung were front row for the collection. The show was packed as we all anxiously waited for the catwalk. The lights dimmed and the first model came out. The music, the clothing, and the lighting were genius. The collection featured mostly neutrals, giving the color beige most of the spotlight. We then were introduced to subtle florals. The fit of the clothing was lose and wavy. The models had nude makeup, giving a very simple spring look.
Every girl and guy that attends these events bring their best look forward. Even though the runaway show is the fashion show, outside the catwalk there is a fashion show all on its own. Spectators wear their fashion forward clothing as they all await what is to come next. You see the girls with the sky high heels and the men with their suits, all claiming to be fashonistas. This time of the year is one of the most exciting for NYC, and the hype lives up to its name.
