An Allentown, Pennsylvania doctor is facing attempted murder and other charges after he drove six hours to brutally attack his neurosurgeon son-in-law outside his Clifton Heights, Ohio home on Sept. 4.
Dr. Georges Bensimhon, 66, was allegedly hiding outside the home of his son-in-law, 39-year-old Dr. Alan Hoffer, just before 6 a.m. when he jumped out of the bushes wearing a ski mask and surgical gloves and started beating Hoffer with a pry bar.
After being hit in the head multiple times, Hoffer overpowered him, breaking his arm and pushing him to the ground. Bensimhon started screaming that he could not breathe, allowing Hoffer to realize who the attacker was.
According to Daily Mail, Bensimhon, an anesthesiologist, had a backpack containg syringes, anesthetics, a screw driver, and more surgical gloves.
Bensimhon’s daughter, Danielle, and Hoffer are going through a divorce and custody battle for their one-year-old daughter. Before the attack, Hoffer was leaving to visit his daughter in Florida where she currently lives with Danielle.
ABC reports that Bensimhon has been indicted on one count of attempted aggravated murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping, and two counts of felonious assault.
After going to municipal court on Sept. 5 he was released on $500,000 bond. Bensimhon is expected to next appear in court on Sept. 25 for a preliminary hearing.
