A plane carrying a team representing the Salinger documentary crash landed at the Telluride, Colorado airport on Sunday. None of the ten people on the plane were injured.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, an observer said that the plane made a ‘belly-landing’ on the runway at the Telluride Regional Airport. The airport was closed while the plane remained on the runway.
San Miguel County Sheriff's Office sent a statement to THR, explaining that the plane’s “warning light indicated a landing gear was not locked down” when it landed on the runway. The left gear collapsed as a result. It “skidded to a halt” and there was no smoke or fire at the scene.
Zap2It reports that the passengers included The Weinstein Company's publicity executive Emmy Chang and David Shields, who co-wrote the book Salinger with Shane Salerno. While it isn’t known who else was among the 10 passengers, Salerno was not onboard.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
Salinger was one of the last additions to the Telluride Film Festival, a festival that doesn’t announce any part of its line-up until a day before it starts. The documentary, which TWC will release in theaters, will be screened today. PBS is also going to air the documentary next year.
It made news last week when it was revealed that Salerno claims that Salinger, the writer of Catcher in the Rye, has more books that will be published.
