Prince William and David Beckham joined forces to film a public service announcement on wildlife conservation on Thursday, September 12th in London.
According to E! Online, the PSA, which will be released later this year, focuses on illegal wildlife products. Specifically, it aims to reduce the demand for rhino hair and ivory.
The dream team was also joined by basketball star Yao Ming in the video. The Duke of Cambridge hopes to use the Royal Foundation to team up with several conservation organizations and work on the cause.
People reports that the 31-year-old royal spoke about the United for Wildlife collaboration saying, “The threats to our natural heritage are extensive, but I believe that this collaboration of the best minds in conservation will provide the impetus for a renewed commitment and action to protect endangered species and habitats for future generations.”
He continues, “At the root of the illegal wildlife trade, for example, is the demand for products that require the deaths of tens of thousands of these animals every year, pushing them further towards extinction. We must work together to prevent this catastrophe and allow our children the opportunity to experience wildlife in its many beautiful and varied forms.”
After rounding up some major star power for the video, William and wife Kate stepped out for the inaugural Tusk Conservation Awards, Kate’s first red carpet since the birth of baby George.
