Jay-Z’s Made in America festival went on from August 31st to September 1st. The festival included Beyoncé, Deadmau5, 2 Chainz, Public Enemy, Emeli Sande, A$AP Rocky, Calvin Harris, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Wiz Khalifa, Miguel, Kendrick Lamar, Solange, Schoolboy Q, Jay-Rock, Ab-Soul and many more. One band particularly was not too fond of the way Jay-Z ran the event.
HuffingtonPost claims that Queen of the Stone Age founding member Josh Homme called Jay-Z a “kook” during a radio interview with CBC Radio 2’s Strombo Show. He wasn’t too happy about the extreme security practices and accused Jay of only giving them champagne for the photo op.
“He has his security frisking the bands on the way in. I just told, them, ‘If you open up my bag, I’m not playing, so I guess it’s up to you whether we are playing or not.’ The idea they frisked all my guys, means you’re in some different place, no one has ever that to me.” Homme said.
TorontoSun said that the rock star threatened to walk out of Jay-Z’s Made in America festival hours before he took the stage with his band mates when security guards were trying to search his bags.
According to ThisIs50 Josh Homme was also angry after being asked to pose for photographs with Jay-Z’s own-brand Ace of Spades champagne, saying, “I was like, ‘that’s not a gift, that’s a marketing tool.’ I destroyed it because I thought it was rude overall.”
