Director Anton Corbijn has found the stars for Life, a new film about actor James Dean and his friendship with Life photographer Dennis Stock. Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson will star.
Screen Daily reports that Life is being produced by See-Saw Films’ Iain Canning and Emile Sherman and Christina Piovesan of First Generation Films. It will be financed by Screen Australia and Film4, who developed the project. Corijn (The American) will direct with a script by Luke Davies.
According to E! News, the project will star DeHaan (The Place Beyond The Pines, Kill Your Darlings) as Dean with Twilight’s Pattinson playing Stack. Just before Dean filmed East of Eden (1955), he and Stack went on a road trip from Los Angeles to New York and Life will focus on the trip.
“Casting Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan brings together two of the most exciting young actors of their generation,” Corbijn said in a statement.
DeHaan also sent out a tweet, noting that he is “humbled” to play his favorite actor:
“@THR: Toronto: Robert Pattinson, Dane DeHaan to Star in 'Life' http://t.co/6b2G6taqx3” Playing my favorite actor #JamesDean. #humbled
