Rock the Bells festival cancelled in New York and Washington, D.C.

Due to poor ticket sales, the Rock the Bells hip-hop music festival has been cancelled in New York and Washington, D.C.

The lineup for the D.C. stop was announced only last weekend, but ticket sales have been poor, Complex.com reports. The shows were set for D.C. in Sept. 28 and 29 have been confirmed to be cancelled.

RFK Stadium representatives confirmed that there would be no show over the weekend.

Ticketmaster has removed the New York site's ticket for Oct. 4 from the website.

According to The Washington Post, the Rock the Bells promoters are expected to publicly announce the stops are cancelled soon.

Rock the Bells started its 10th anniversary earlier in September at a stop in San Bernadino, Calif. There were logistical issues even with just that stop.

The acts announced for the D.C. stop included Kid Cudi, Wu-Tang Clan, J.Cole, Tyler, the Creator and other high profile hip-hop acts. The show was set to take place over two days.
