A rumor has been floating around that Britney Spears plans on lip-syncing during her 2-year Vegas residency.

New York Daily News is reporting that someone told the magazine that the 31-year-old singer will be lip-syncing during her Britney: Pieces of Me shows.

The source said, "Britney does not sing. She is being paid a lot of money to lip-sync. Her fans are none the wise, but it is disingenuous of her to take their cash and not deliver a proper performance."

"She hasn't sung live for a couple years," the source added. "If the crowd thinks they are being cheated then there is likely to be an uproar."

However, someone close to the singer told Gossip Cop that the allegations are completely untrue. The tipster has evidently been trying to get someone to fall for the information for weeks and finally got NY Daily News to go with the story.

"Britney will be singing," the source close to the singer said. Spears' own rep has said that there is "zero truth" to the rumor.

According to Contact Music, the rep also said, "Britney will be singing. As stated before, she is in vocal training - has been for months."

As previously reported, the "Toxic" singer will be performing 48 shows over a two year period in Las Vegas for nearly $15 million. She will be performing her Britney: Pieces of Me shows at the Planet Hollywood hotel.
