Science fiction writer and advocate A.C. Crispin passed away at age 63.
The Associated Press reports Crispin died from cancer. Her full name was Ann Carol Crispin.
She was a science fiction writer and was the author of several Star Trek and Star Wars tie-in novels. She also ran the Writer Beware website that kept a lookout for literary scams.
She started writing in 1983 and had more than 20 novels published. Most of her novels were based off of movies and TV series including Pirates of the Caribbean, in addition to the aforementioned Star Wars and Trek books.
Business & Heritage noted that her most famous science fiction writing involved the television miniseries V back in 1984.
She also wrote her own original series called Starbridge. The first book in the series was chosen for the American Library Associations Young Adult Services Division's list of Best Books of 1991. The second book, Silent Dances also was nearly nominated for a Nebula award.
