A 19-year-old California boy has been missing since Aug. 30 when his car was found unoccupied and lying on its side near Castaic Lake, California.

Bryce Laspisa, a graduate of Naperville Central High School and student at Sierra College near Sacramento, was last heard from at 2 a.m. that day when he called his mother to say he was planning on sleeping in his car. He was driving from Sierra College back to his family’s home in Laguna Niguel.

A burned body was found by a cyclist on Sept. 4 not far from where Laspisa’s car was left. An autopsy was completed Saturday, ruling that the body found is not Laspisa.

This news gives hope to his family and friends that have been relentlessly searching for the missing boy.

According to LA Times, he had called his mother, Karen Laspisa, and told her he had pulled over in a safe residential area. She told him to lock his doors and call her when he woke up, but never heard from him again.

Chicago Tribune reports that Laspisa’s vehicle was broke into this week and two men were arrested for burglary. Authorities do not know if this is connected with his disappearance.

Family and friends of Laspisa have started a Facebook page to share information about their search efforts.
