Selena Gomez won't performing any time soon in Russia due to her support of gay rights.
According to E! Online, promoters for a couple of Gomez's concerts in Russia told local newspaper The Moscow Times that she was denied a visa.
Evidently Russia's anti-gay laws mean that many performers who have spoken out in support of gay rights will not be granted permission to enter the country.
The "Come & Get It" singer was scheduled to perform in St. Petersburg and Moscow in just a few days, but her rep has since announced the shows are cancelled.
New York Daily News reports that gay rights activist and writer John Becker said, "This cancellation of Selena Gomez's visa shows that the Russian government is sensitive and on defense, and shows that the pressure from people all around the world and the backlash against these laws is strong."
Becker even started a Change.org petition asking that Gomez "speak out for equality in Moscow and St. Petersburg."
The 21-year-old's Stars Dance tour will be moving on without performing in Russia, and has some upcoming stops in the United States.
