Coast Guard Beach in Eastham on Cape Cod was shut down temporarily after a shark sighting Sunday morning.

Photographer Bruce Langsen spotted what he claimed to be a great white shark attacking a seal, just 100 yards offshore.

Langsen reported to the Cape Cod Times that his son was standing next to him at the time of the sighting and “said, 'Oh my God, Oh my God,'" while he took photos of the incident, capturing what appeared to be a shark's dorsal fin surrounded by bloody water.

According to the Associated Press, there were several surfers swimming nearby who also witnessed the shark attack, but no injuries or human attacks were reported.

The beach was closed after Langsen and the surfers reported the incident to a Cape Cod National Seashore ranger, but was reopened an hour later when no additional shark sightings occurred.

The AP also reports that with Cape Cod's seal population increasing to a surprising amount this year, shark sightings are increasing as well.
