Sleigh Bells, a Brooklyn based noise pop duo are releasing their third studio album titled Bitter Rivals. The album drops on October 8.

“Bitter Rivals,” the released track from the album of the same name, sticks to their original sound, which will make all Sleigh Bells fans quite happy. The songs starts with a short intro consisting of a scream, some finger snapping, a clear guitar riff and a shy beat. Then all of a sudden, when you least expect it, your eardrums are hit with an intense guitar sound followed by Alexis Krauss’ powerful and passionate singing. In the middle the song slows down, there is some finger snapping again supported by a stronger beat and Krauss singing ”You are my bitter rival, but I need you for survival…” It’s a quite powerful and motivational track and it is very Sleigh Bells.

Judging by this song, their new album will be quite similar to what we have heard before. It reminds me of some tracks from my personal favorite album, Treats, and their second studio album Reign of Terror. I hope that when the album comes out, we will hear much more experimentation with the sound. If not, oh well, their old sound will do, I guess? Their unique sound is why we fell in love with this band in the first place. Maybe sometimes sticking to the old is better? But we’ll see.

Let me know what do you think!

In the meantime, check out the video for “Bitter Rivals.”
