Star Wars will be getting origin stories after the next episode is released. It's no news that a new episode of Star Wars is well on its way, coming to theaters in 2015. But Disney plans on releasing a Star Wars film every year after 2015, starting with Episode VII. These films will be of beloved characters of the Star Wars saga and how they got to be who they are now.
According to The Guardian Disney chief financial officer Jay Rasulo stated that, "The sky's the limit, there's incredible flexibility. It's an unbelievable palette to create from." Rasulo also went on to say that the franchise isn't meant for kids, which could mean that the next batch of films may be a bit darker than the previous installments.
In an article from IGN rumored characters for these films include Boba Fett, Han Solo, and Yoda. Although these films are reported to be standalone titles, they will still be in the same realm of stories, and won't cross paths with any of the previous movies. Expect these spinoff films to be released sometime after Episode VII is released.
