The F Word has been receiving positive reviews and buzz after being screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film is one of three that Daniel Radcliffe stars in, Los Angeles Times reports. Oh, and the 'F' in the title refers to 'friends.' Though the film isn't afraid of "saucy language," Betsy Sharkey says.
She got a "real kick" out of the film.
The film also stars Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks) who is also great in the film and both "get lots of zippy lines."
The Hollywood Reporter's John DeFore says it's "a crowd-pleaser in theaters" and hits "all the rom-com notes with wit and some charm."
DeFore also feels that the two leads don't have physical chemistry, "so much as an innocent, cheerful alignment of personalities."
The movie is about Wallace (Radcliffe) who has been struggling for a long time after a bad breakup and meets Chantry (Kazan) at a party he attends. He likes her, but finds out she has a boyfriend and he isn't about to try and break them up. But eventually he starts to crack with just being friends with her.
The film is set in Toronto and director Michael Dowse doesn't hide that fact, The Star notes. "I looked at a lot of classic romantic comedies and a lot of them feature a city and I thought Toronto hadn't really been featured like that before."
Dowse also hopes that the film has universal appeal. "As a filmmaker, I am Canadian but I don't try to target my audience as Canadian."
