Holler if ya Hear Me, a musical portraying the life of Tupac Shakur is coming to Broadway.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the show will be directed by the seasoned Kenny Leon.
According to Leon, the show will be a tribute to Tupac's “unconditional love story,” full of “anti-violence” messages. It will feature Tupac's music set to an original story.
The Huffington Post reveals that the musical will be set in a Midwestern industrial city. The storyline follows two childhood friends who “struggle to reconcile the challenges and realities of their daily lives with their hopes, dreams and ambitions."
The show has been in the making for a long time now – casting auditions were first called back in March 2012, according to Spin. Although the cast has not yet been revealed, Leon thinks he found a great group of actors and dancers. “We had to have a group that could do hip-hop dance as well as straightforward Broadway musical dance. But above all we needed actors who could tell the story," the director said, as reported by Rolling Stone.
The goal is for “Holler” to debut on Broadway for the 2013-2014 season.
