A biopic based on the life of fallen rapper Tupac Shakur will begin filming next year despite many delays. His mother, Afeni Shakur, will serve as a producer on the film.

The film will start shooting in Atlanta, Georgia around February of 2014 and Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Morgan Creek Productions, who are co-producing and co-financing, has the rights to his extensive catalog of music.

According to Deadline, Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft are writing the script and the budget is set around $45 million.

They’re not decided on whether they want to cast a well known actor in the part of find someone fresh-faced.

Earlier this year, Tupic’s mother told Billboard that they would be releasing unreleased tracks. "I believe it is our responsibility to make sure that Tupac’s entire body of work is made available for his fans,” she said at the time, MTV reports. “My son left many incomplete pieces and even more unfinished ideas. Using the blueprints he gave us, I am committed to fulfilling this duty."

Tupac was murdered in 1996 at the age of 25 in Las Vegas. Since his death, he’s sold over 75 million albums internationally.
