David Fincher and Fox have finished filling out many of the main roles in Gone Girl, the new project from the Social Network director that will star Ben Affleck. Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris are among the new actors to join.
Deadline has confirmed that Perry has been hired to play a defense attorney who represents Affleck’s character. The site notes that Fincher was impressed by the prolific writer/director’s performance in Alex Cross and began pursuing him for the role.
How I Met Your Mother star Harris is set to play a character named Desi Collins, who is a former boyfriend of Affleck’s wife’s.
Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit and Carrie Coon have also been cast in the project. Fugit (Thanks For Sharing) and Coon (Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?) will be investigating the mystery at the center of Gone Girl’s plot, while Dickens (Treme) will play Affleck’s twin sister.
Gone Girl is coming together rather quickly, since it was only in January that Fincher was first attached to the project. It is based on the novel by Gillian Flynn.
Affleck joined in July, with Rosamund Pike cast a short time later to play the Argo star’s wife.
