Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote in an op-ed for New York Times that the US military intervention in Syria isn't such a great idea, claiming that it would make things worse and increase problems.

He wanted to do an op-ed with New York Times so he could "speak directly to the American people and their political leaders."

"[An American attack] could undermine multilateral efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and further destabilise the Middle East and north Africa. It could throw the entire system of international law and order out of balance," said The Guardian.

Putin strongly believes that the President should get authorization from the United Nations to avoid the possibility of the situation spiraling out of control.

According to CNN, Obama said, "I believe we should act." He continues, "That's what makes America different. That's what makes us exceptional. With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose sight of that essential truth."

For right now, no one's sure if Obama will heed Putin's words.
