Actor Zachary Quinto makes his Broadway debut in a reprival of a 1944 award winning play by Tennessee Williams.

Quinto stars in a revival of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie, directed by Tony Award winning John Tiffany.

Quinto plays Tom Wingfield, a warehouse worker who tries to escape his overbearing mother who pressures him to find a suitor for his handicapped sister.

The play also stars Celia Keenan-Bolger, Brian J. Smith, and two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones.

Best known for his roles in Star Trek, American Horror Story, and Heroes, Quinto spoke to Elle Magazine about the transition from film and television to Broadway.

"Of course I’m aware of the actors that have preceded me in previous productions but I don’t feel inhibited by that," Quinto said. "I’m much more interested in my own experience of Tennessee’s play. So for me, it’s about immersing myself in the work and in the company of these amazing actors and wonderful director. I think of it more as a journey we’re taking together than anything I’m taking on myself."

The Associated Press reported that Quinto always wanted to do Broadway and is greatful for this opportunity.

"I was walking to work today. I've been walking the past few days because it's so beautiful out, so I walk from downtown. And I was like, 'This is my life' living in Manhattan, a dream I've always had, and I'm walking to my theater on Broadway to do Tennessee Williams," Quinto said. "It's not lost on me. I really am humbled by it often. I feel really grateful."

Quinto used Hollywood to help build a name for himself, making the transition to theater easier for him.

"It was always a means to an end to me," Quinto said. "I always felt like I wanted to be in L.A. so that I could come back here and do theater and now I'm making good on that promise to myself."

When the play finishes its run in January, Quinto, as a producer, has two films coming out in October. The Banshee Chapter and All Is Lost.
