It took Johnny Knoxville in disguise as an 86-year-old man to finally dethrone the Sandra Bullock driven, space thriller Gravity. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, took in over $32 million in ticket sales since it was released, reported Reuters.

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, stars, Johnny Knoxville, as a grandfather who is traveling across the United States with his eight year old grandson, pulling pranks on individuals along the way. The movie has been described as having the Jackass feel with a lose narrative surrounding the story.

The last Jackass film, Jackass 3-D opened with over $50 million in its first weekend. In total, the low budget films have made over $254 million in worldwide ticket sales. Bad Grandpa was not released in 3D which have impacted the final numbers for its first opening weekend.

Gravity held strong in second place with $20.3 million, reported Box Office Mojo. Bringing the total for the film to $199.8 million domestically. In third place was Tom Hank’s Capitan Phillips which made $11.8 million.

An additional box office note, in its first weekend making the box office top ten, 12 Years a Slave placed in eighth overall and made $2.2 million. 12 Years a Slave opened in 123 theaters, with a $17,480 per theater average, reported ABC news.

There was one disappointing headline from the box office this weekend. The Counselor, which featured a star studded cast of Cameron Diaz and Javier Bardem, only brought in an estimated eight million dollars.
