The first full trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has hit the web, showing off the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. It looks like the film is more political in tone as Cap is left wondering about his role in the modern world.

In the trailer, we find Steve meeting with the head of S.H.I.E.L.D., who is surprisingly played by Robert Redford. It is the legendary actor/director’s first appearance in a comic book movie and its expected that he may appear in other Marvel movies.

Anthony Mackie plays a central role in the film as The Falcon and we get to see him shooting in the air as he leaps off a building. The cast also includes Marvel regulars Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders. Sebastian Stan returns as the mysterious Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp (Revenge) has joined the cast as Agent 13.

The Winter Soldier follows in the footsteps of Joe Johnston’s The First Avenger, which had a 1940’s vibe throughout. However, directors Anthony and Joe Russo said their aim was to make a political thriller akin to the 1970s thrillers.

"There's nobody better at that kind of stuff than Marvel if you're going to attempt to pull that off and go for it,” Joe Russo told USA Today . "We all tried to up the ante with what happens in this movie in terms of what's come before, and I think we've done that.”
