David Yates, who directed the final Harry Potter movies, has been attached to yet another project. Fox has hired him to adapt the Image comic book Who Is Jake Ellis?, which the studio just acquired the film rights to.
Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin will produce the film adaptation of the espionage comic, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news. Ford Lytle Gilmore is executive producing.
Variety reports that the original story centers on a former CIA analyst and spy who is on the run. The only person who can protect him is the mysterious title character, who seems to be invincible and knows everything.
The book was written by Nathan Edmondson and drawn by Tonci Zonjic, who also made a sequel, Where is Jake Ellis?. The film adaptation is still without a writer and no actors are attached.
Yates has been a busy man in Hollywood, even though he still hasn’t completed his first film since the last Harry Potter movie. He had hoped to make Your Voice In My Head, but pulled out of that and is reportedly in talks with Universal about doing a Scarface reboot. He’s also busy at Warner Bros., working on a Tarzan reboot with Christoph Waltz and Alexander Skarsgard.
Finally, Yates is currently working on FX’s Tyrant pilot.
