Ty Simpkins, a child actor who appeared in this year’s blockbuster Iron Man 3, is reportedly set to star in one of 2015’s many potential blockbusters, Jurassic World. He is the latest to join the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise.
Simpkins, 12, joined the cast on Monday. Deadline, which first confirmed the news, reports that New Girl star Jake Johnson is also in the running for a role. Bryce Dallas Howard is reportedly still in contention for the lead female role, but Universal hasn’t confirmed that yet.
Even though he is only 12, Simpkins already has experience with a member of the Jurassic team. His first movie was Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of War of the Worlds. He also appeared in the horror hit Insidious and appeared in Revolutionary Road and Little Women with Kate Winslet.
If Johnson gets a role, World would reunite him with director Colin Trevorrow. The actor appeared in Safety Not Guaranteed, Trevorrow’s only other feature film.
Jurassic World will be released on June 12, 2015 and will be released in 3D. It is just one of many blockbusters hitting theaters that summer. Spielberg is the executive producer, along with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley.
