Nymphomaniac, Danish director Lars Von Trier’s latest epic, is about sex. That’s pretty obvious from the title and the collection of 14 posters released on Thursday. All of the posters show the cast in the nude and in provocative poses.
Indiewire reports that the posters show each member of the cast, including lead star Charlotte Gainsbourg. The actress, who appeared in Von Trier’s Antichrist and Melancholia, plays Joe, a girl whose sexual history is the main topic of the film. She recounts her sexual life, from her teen years to adulthood.
The posters tell the audience who each actor is playing. Christian Slater is Joe’s father, Connie Nielsen is her mother and Stacy Martin is young Joe. Other members of the cast featured in the posters are Jamie Bell, Jens Albinus, Mia Goth, Shia LaBeouf, Nicolas Bro, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Stellan Skarsgard, Udo Kier, Uma Thurman and Willem DaFoe.
It’s not quite figured out how the film will be released. According to Entertainment Weekly, Denmark audiences will get a two-part, softcore version that runs five hours starting Christmas Day. Norway film site Montages is reporting that a more graphic version will be screened at Cannes next year, which will make for an interesting return for Von Trier. (We remember what happened the last time the director was there.)
The film was produced by TrustNordisk, reports THR.
