Ariel Castro, who kidnapped and imprisoned three women, might have died from auto-erotic asphyxiation.
According to New York Daily News, an official report revealed that the 53-year-old was found in his cell hanging from the window with a bedsheet tied around his neck.
Evidently his pants and underwear were found down at his ankles, prompting the possibility of auto-erotic asphyxiation. The report also noted that a Bible was open to John Chapters 2 and 3 and he had family pictures on the wall.
The report concludes that there was no suicide note and little idea of what really happened. "No other immediate observations about the scene led to conclusions about the motivation or the self-inflicted death."
According to the Sydney Morning Herald the report also said, "The relevance of this finding is unclear."
The results were "relayed to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for consideration of the possibility of auto-erotic asphyxiation."
As previously reported, the report also found that documents at the prison were falsified. Guards were under instruction to check on Castro every 30 minutes, but it was later determined several visits were skipped and the logs faked, all around the time leading up to his death.
