Actor Ashton Kutcher is known for his love of tech gadgets and has invested in several companies in the past. Now, he’s ready to take on a new role as a product engineer at Lenovo.
Kutcher, who currently stars on Two and a Half Men, will design tablets for the Chinese company in an attempt to interest U.S. consumers, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The former That ‘70s Show star will collaborate with Lenovo’s engineers to “develop and market the Yoga line of tablets by providing input and decision-making into design, specifications, software and usage scenarios,” the company said.
“This partnership with Lenovo brings together my love of technology and design that makes your life better,” Kutcher said during the Youtube Space LA launch event, reports THR. “I can't wait to dig in and help Lenovo develop future mobile computing products, starting with the Yoga Tablet.”
USA Today notes that the partnership may be risky for Kutcher and Lenovo, but Kutcher said he likes taking risks. “"If you look at my career, what's constant is I like to take risks — so does Lenovo,” Kutcher told USA Today. “Lenovo is all about innovation and strong leadership.”
Lenovo has hired celebrity endorsers in the past, but Lenovo said that Kutcher will be more hands-on than others, as he’ll actually be meeting face-to-face with engineers.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t revealed. Kutcher was recently named the highest-paid TV actor by Forbes.
